The simple idea of a walk anchor was used to come up with a safe way to rig to compromised wind turbine blades. We are frequently called upon to develop engineered safe approaches to dismantle compromised turbine due to thermal events or blade mishaps. One task that can be time consuming is how to rig to broken wind turbine blades. BEC upscaled the idea of a wall anchor to attach to broken blades.
In a similar fashion, BEC drilled a hole into the blade, inserted the toggle and voilà, a safe lifting point. This highly successful innovation has been used countless times to bring efficiency and added safety to our maintenance teams.
